Years on the Tree: 20+
Acquired: Picked out at the store by my younger brother
Fun Fact: I want Luke's first word to be 'Animal' so that he can walk around the house screaming "Animal! Animal!" while knocking stuff over. "Daddy" would also be acceptable.
So yesterday we discussed how my brother, Matthew, and I both received an ornament of our choosing when we were very, very young. I picked out Baby Ernie Riding his firetruck. A relatively lackluster ornament, but given the fact that it is the FIRST ornament to go on the tree each year I would have to say that is some sort of significance given the blog is about ornaments. Baby Ernie is sort of the Brett Favre of the the Christmas Tree; he may not be as good as he once was, but damnit he is showing up to play.
So then what ornament is going to hang opposite of mine? Well, it is none other than the ringleader of the Muppets: Kermit the Frog! Hi Ho!
This one is my brother's. Note how it is not on the tree. It will not be placed on the tree until he comes over here and puts it on the tree. I am a man very set in my ways and when we were kids I was not allowed to hang this ornament just the same as he was not allowed to touch my Ernie ornament. Therefore this ornament will be sort of "on the bench" ready to go into the big game once my brother goes DJ Lance style a la 'Yo Gabba Gabba' and brings his Kermit Ornament to life.
Editor's Note: I know the blog post today is shorter than usual. Work was physically and emotionally exhausting today. I had call outs on the busiest day of the week. Halfway through unloading the truck I spilled an entire half gallon of bleach on my left pant leg; thus making me smell like the Community Center pool while walking around with an orange leg. I got a panicked page back to the RX which means one of two things:
1. We are being robbed which means I do nothing but call the police.
2. A sick child was brought into the store and did was sick children do: throw up on the floor where people have to walk, often only hurling distance from a trash can. Someone has to clean it up. That someone is me.
I'm calling it a night early and we shall start fresh tomorrow. Maybe Luke will let me sleep and extra half hour tonight thus giving me six full hours!!! Hi Ho!!!
